Blogging to Labs from a Mac
Windows Live Writer is such a great tool for Windows so it was really hard to find any match for the Mac.
- Ecto. Look nice and support a wide range of blog services. But it hangs when downloading older entries form Labs.
- MarsEdit. Look promising but is doesnt have a WYSIWYG editor (really?? I just assumed all tools have WYSIWYG editors).
- ScribeFire. A plugin to Firefox, it both works and have a WYSIWYG editor. I like the fact that you can browse sites while having your draft side by side. This post that you are now reading is written and published with ScribeFire on OSX Leopard using FireFox 3 Beta 5. I wanted to post a screendump but I haven't understood how to do that in ScribeFire yet (uploading images I mean).
A problem in common with all these tools is that the publishing date for older entries is incorrect so I guess that is Labs to blame, the dates are blank. Labs is not using the same MetaWeblog API as the demo templates (because the demo templates are written based on this prototype), I'm not sure the problem is solved in the demo templates but it's worth mentioning.
