There have been some posts about performance improvements in EPiServer CMS 5 already, but I thought I post my results as well. These tests were conducted by applying load on the default templates on one of our test servers and then measuring hits per second that the server can deliver.

The first results in the chart are just hitting templates in a default installation and the second results are with 10,000 generated pages in a single list. The blue colored bar is EPiServer CMS 5 and the red is EPiServer CMS 4.62B. The tests were run on Windows Server 2003 x86.

As you can see the performance different is huge when the number of pages increases (or actually the amount of pressure on DataFactory).

I would not recommend that you actually have a list of that size but its any easy way to put pressure on DataFactory.
