Google Maps in EPiServer CMS 5

by: RockViggo

googlemaps The Google Maps integration with EPiServer has been available from the old research site, for some time now. The module lets editors create POI's as pages in EPiServer with rich text formatting. It has never been easier to create professional looking maps showing your different business locations or other points of interests that you might have.

The module has now been converted to CMS 5 and it is available with full source code on EPiCode (watch a screen cast of the module in use).

One of the many cool things with EPiServer CMS 5 is the possibility to install modules, add-ins or plug-ins through the EPiServer Manager. This will be documented and more functionality will be exposed later (such as having the Web.config file updated) - but you basically only need a *.zip file with a certain folder structure and magic will happen. Needless to say, the Google Maps integrations is also available as a zip package from EPiCode. You can find a post on the forum with more information on how to create such a package.

If anyone have some cool scenarios related to  EPiServer CMS and Google Maps, please post a comment (or even better, build it and make it available on EPiCode!).
