EPiServer CMS 5 and Windows Vista

by: Steve Celius

Personally I haven't installed Vista - yet. Don't know when, but I don't really see the point right now, I've got the tools I need, and developing on Windows XP with VS 2005 or 2008 is slow enough as it is. I bet the Vista eye candy does not exactly improve performance :-) Anyway, I'm digressing.

If you have taken the plunge, you probably want to read the fantastic walk through by Ruwen.

    1.  Steve: Johan and Ruwen are having it even worse: They got new Apple iMacs and are running Vista on them. However, it runs excellent. I started myself some months ago, and I must say my desktop environment is quite nice now.. I can improve it by rebooting to MacOSX if I get tired :-)

Even Johan are starting to look less embarrassed with his Mac. (He managed to remap the annoying Apple keyboard!) I also purchased a Mac to my home. I use it as my kitchen TV, running Vista Ultimate. The Mac has a fire-dtv TV receiver and is paired with my two Xbox360s. I can even access my TV recordings from the Internet. Finally got something that works and produces excellent picture on my TVs! All that is needed now is to automatically sync the recorded TV to my Ipod Touch.

    2. There is something very very wrong here. Why are people buying Macs and install Vista? You're strange :-)

I DO want a MacBook Pro or iMac, I really do. But I will never ever install Windows on it - even if I can. (Parallels will of course do the trick for those times one really needs to run Windows.)

Sadly, I'm probably a long long way from getting a Mac though.

Cool set-up, having these systems connected (apart from violating that poor Mac :-) )

    3. I'm with you on this, Steve. Although my laptop came pre-installed with Vista and I was too lazy to shift back to XP, the first thing I did when I got my iMac was to install XP on it :-) Now it functions quite excellent as fileserver/webserver/netradioplayer... /Allan
